Can I still get my work permit?

The school year is over and I couldn't renew my permit before school ended because my grades were not high enough to meet the GPA requirement. But since school is out can I just go to my district's office and get one? Will they look at my previous year's grades, like does it still carry over? Because I don't really want to wait until school starts back up in August for my grades to all turn A's.
