Do you think this guy is buying me stuff to try to keep control over me?

I am 18 and have a 3 year old daughter, I am living with a man that is in his 50's and he is starting to seem a little possessive. He likes to buy me things like clothes and jewelry expensive sunglasses he also lets us live in his house which is in a really nice neighborhood and school district and stuff. Me and him have had sex a couple of times, but the other day he picked me up from school and told me that because I have a daughter and stuff that I needed my own car so we went looking and I found a 2011 Volkswagen cc and he financed it for me. I am starting to worry now because he bought me a car that he might become possessive what do you think?
